About Martin Hazell

My drawings and paintings centre on places special to people’s memories. I work on a commission basis and like to produce quite detailed work in pen & ink and watercolour. I believe an original painting is a wonderful way to remember your home, a favourite church, pub, public building or holiday location.

I studied design at the Central School of Art & Design, followed by a career at a London design consultancy. I have been a research fellow at the Royal College of Art, taught design in Mexico and am a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Since retirement, I have concentrated on drawing and painting and now live in Herefordshire with my wife Jane. If you would like to commission a watercolour of somewhere special to you, please get in touch.

Watercolour painting is an ancient form of painting. In Asia watercolour painting has been the dominant medium, often in monochrome black or browns, often using inkstick or other pigments. Other parts of the world have a long history of water colour painting.
